The 1959 Football Team
The first team to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, the 9-0 1959 Pride football team is the only team in school history to remain undefeated at the end of the season. The team was led by Hall of Fame Coach Howdy Myers and captained by George Dempster and Chet O’Neill. It ranked first in the East in passing, pass defense and points allowed (44), and third in total offense (248 ypg). The team was second in the nation in pass offense and fifth in the nation in pass defense and total defense.
Among small colleges it was the number one team in the East as selected by the NCAA.
