SUSAN TROMMER

Susan (Gades) Trommer, a 1986 graduate with degrees in computer science and business information systems, was a four-year member of the Volleyball team and one of the most dominant players in program history. Susan was a two-time team Most Valuable Player, a four-time All-East Coast Conference selection and the 1985 ECC Most Valuable Player. She holds six single season records and five career records, and her career hitting percentage of .392 ranks 10th in NCAA history. During her playing career, Hofstra tallied a 111-48 record and won three ECC championships.

Following graduation, Susan became an assistant coach at Hofstra for two seasons while pursuing her MBA, which she received in 1989. She also continued her playing career, competing in the annual Empire State Games and on the semi-pro women’s beach volleyball circuit until retiring from competitive play in 2000. Susan has been employed for the past 15 years with Information Builders, a privately held Enterprise Business Intelligence software company in Manhattan. She began her career in 1990 as a customer support consultant and now serves as the director of WebFOCUS product management operations for the business intelligence products group.
