PHIL MORDENTE
Phil Mordente, Hofstra’s career leader in points, was a lacrosse standout from 1964 to 1966.
In his three seasons at Hofstra, Phil recorded 211 points. He ranks third all-time in program history with 106 assists and fourth in goals scored with 105. In 1964 he recorded 37 goals and 29 assists for 66 points to rank fifth in the nation in scoring. In 1965 he posted 39 goals and 32 assists for 71 points. His 39 goals were fourth in the nation, while his point total was third. Phil closed out his career with 29 goals and 45 assists for 74 points. The 45 assists were second in the nation and the 74 points was third in the country.
Phil earned honorable mention All-America honors in 1965 and was a third team All-American in 1966. He was also named to the North-South Senior All-Star Game in 1966.
After graduating in 1966, Phil worked for one year in the Massapequa School District before serving in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970. Phil served in Vietnam and reached the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
From 1970 to 1975 Phil worked for the Dade County and Broward County School Districts, as well as Broward Community College in Florida. In 1975 he founded Leisure Time Pools, Inc., a residential swimming pool contracting company and owned it until 2003. Since then he has worked as a construction facilitator for the city of Pembroke Pines, Florida.
