LENA MALINOWSKI
A volleyball student-athlete from 1994 to 1998, Lena Malinowski is the program's all-time leader in kills with 1,654 and ranks third all-time in digs with 1,545. She also holds Hofstra's single match record for digs with 41 versus Delaware on November 20, 1994.
Malinowski, a native of Mission Viejo, California, was a member of three consecutive NCAA Tournament teams from 1995 to 1997, and was an All-America East selection in both 1996 and 1997. During her tenure on the team, Hofstra was 110-71 and won North Atlantic Conference (1995) and America East Conference (1996, 1997) championships in three straight years.
In addition to her rankings in kills and digs, Malinowski also stands second all-time in sets played (513), fifth all-time in kills per set (3.22) and seventh all-time in digs per set (3.01).
As part of the 1995 volleyball team that was the first in program history to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, Malinowski is a member of the Hofstra Volleyball Court of Honor.
After graduating from Hofstra, Malinowski began working for Johnson and Johnson (Advanced Sterilization Products), where she is a Technical Support Specialist supporting eight systems.
A diehard Los Angeles sports fan, especially the Lakers and 2013 and 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Kings, she attends as many games as possible. Malinowski is also an avid traveler and vacations in Hawaii every January. She has recently traveled to Alaska, Vancouver, and many of the Caribbean Islands including St. Maarten, St. Thomas, St. John, Aruba, Jamaica, Haiti, Curacao and Cozumel to name a few.
Malinowski returns to New York once a year to visit family who live in Queens and friends she met at Hofstra, as well as to attend Broadway shows.
