ELIZABETH PARISI (PARR)
Elizabeth Parisi, a volleyball student-athlete, played for the Pride from 1993 through 1996. A four-year letterwinner, Elizabeth, a setter, guided Hofstra to 90 victories and three conference championships during her tenure.
During her freshman campaign in 1993 Hofstra won the East Coast Conference championship and was invited to play in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship, the Pride’s fourth trip to the NIVC in five years.
Elizabeth helped lead Hofstra to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1995 as the team won the North Atlantic Conference championship. An All-North Atlantic Conference selection that season, her season total of 1,279 assists led the conference and at the time was the second-highest mark in school history.
In 1996 Elizabeth led Hofstra back to the NCAA Tournament, earning All-America East and America East Championship Most Valuable Player honors along the way.
In addition to her conference honors, Elizabeth was also named team Most Valuable Player in 1996, and served as team captain during the 1995 and 1996 seasons.
In her career, Elizabeth played in 149 matches and recorded 2,381 assists, 1,306 digs and 198 service aces. In the Hofstra record book, she ranks fourth all-time in service aces, sixth in assists, eighth in matches played and ninth in digs.
After completing her playing career, Elizabeth spent two years as an assistant volleyball coach for the Pride. During her two years, Hofstra was 44-27 and advanced to the 1997 NCAA Tournament after winning a third straight conference championship.
In 2001 Elizabeth was inducted into the Hofstra Volleyball Court of Honor, which recognizes excellence in performance or contribution to the Hofstra Volleyball program.
A native of Burnsville, Minnesota, Elizabeth is a 1997 graduate of the University with degrees in elementary education and sociology. She earned her master’s degree in elementary education from Hofstra in 1999 and is currently a teacher in the Uniondale School District.
