CRYSTAL BOYD
 
Crystal Boyd, a 1994 graduate with a degree in exercise physiology, was a four-year starter at shortstop on the Hofstra Softball team from 1991 through 1994. She became Hofstra’s first National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American in 1993 and repeated that honor in 1994. She was also named an Academic All-American in 1992, 1993 and 1994. In 1993 she led Hofstra to its first NCAA Softball Tournament appearance. Crystal finished her career as the holder of six single season records, including a .514 batting average in 1992 that led the nation, seven single game records and four career records. She also led the nation in slugging percentage in 1992 at .838. A fixture in the Hofstra top 10 of every major offensive category, Crystal compiled career numbers of a .431 batting average, 68 doubles, 29 triples, 18 home runs, 144 RBIs, 171 runs scored and 34 stolen bases. In addition to her All-America accolades, Crystal was a four-time all-region, and a three-time All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and All-East Coast Conference selection.
 
In 1997 Crystal was selected by the Georgia Pride in the inaugural Women’s Professional Softball League (WPSL) draft. She played in the now-defunct league from 1997 through 1999, and ranks fourth in career batting (.308), second in hits (178), fifth in home runs (13) and second in RBIs (86).
 
A member of the Long Island Softball Hall of Fame, Crystal was also an honoree at the 2005 Hofstra Pride Club Dinner. She is a physical education teacher in the Garden City School District.
