During his tenure, Hofstra posted a 29-12 record. The 1983 team went 10-0 in the regular season and qualified for the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the first time in program history. Walcott concluded his Hofstra career with 225 tackles, 11 pass deflections, and six interceptions, and received the 1985 Mayor's Trophy for fair play and sportsmanship.

In addition to his role on the Hofstra defense, Walcott also was a kick returner and led the team with 331 yards on 17 returns (19.5 average) in 1985. He also added 51 solo tackles, 23 assisted tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
