CARL ORENT

Carl Orent graduated from Hofstra in 1955 with a degree in marketing and was a three-year letterwinner on both the Lacrosse and Football teams. A two-time lacrosse All-American, Carl was a third team selection in 1954 and in 1955 became the first Hofstra player to be named first team All-America. As a senior he was selected to play in the USILA North-South All-Star Game and was a Laurie Cox Division All-Star. Carl was later inducted into the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Carl started his business career with a major retailer and reached the position of senior merchandise buyer. He later resigned and went into the business of tabletop textiles and plastics. For more than 40 years he served as CEO and chairman of the board of Elrene Home Fashions. Carl also served as a board member of the Plastic and Textile Association for 15 years. After retiring he spent six years as treasurer of the Estates II Association of North Hills.
