Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University junior guard Justin Wright-Foreman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year, it was announced today by the conference office.

Two other Hofstra players collected postseason honors from the CAA as senior center/forward Rokas Gustys earned Third Team All-CAA honors and freshman guard Jalen Ray garnered CAA All-Rookie Team accolades.

Voting for the postseason awards was done by the league's head coaches, sports information directors and members of the media.

Wright-Foreman, who was also a First Team All-CAA selection, is Hofstra's fourth CAA Player of the Year since the Pride joined the conference beginning with the 2001-02 season. He joins Loren Stokes (2007), Charles Jenkins (2010 and 2011) and Juan'ya Green (2016).

Wright-Foreman averaged 24.2 points per game during the regular season, while also adding 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest. He has currently scored in double figures in 52 straight games, which ranks as the nation's fourth-longest streak, and has topped the 30-point plateau seven times this season and 11 times in his career. In CAA play alone he had three games of at least 35 points, including 39 against Elon, which ranks as the eighth-most in a game in program history. Wright-Foreman has already poured in 1,350 points in his career and currently ranks 14th on the all-time Hofstra scoring chart.

He is the first Hofstra player to average at least 20 points per game since Charles Jenkins averaged 22.6 points per contest in 2010-11 and his scoring average is the highest for a Pride player since Richie Laurel poured in 30.3 points per outing during the 1976-77 campaign. In Hofstra's NCAA Division I era (since 1966-67), Wright-Foreman's scoring average is second only to Laurel's in program history. Wright-Foreman's scoring average is also the sixth-highest all-time in CAA history and the highest since Gary Neal averaged 25.3 points per game for Towson during the 2006-07 season. His 726 points is currently the ninth-most in a single season in CAA history and the sixth-most in a season in Hofstra history.

Wright-Foreman, who won three CAA Player of the Week awards this season, currently ranks first in the CAA and fifth nationally in scoring.

For the second time in his illustrious career, Gustys averaged a double-double for Hofstra as he posted 12.1 rebounds and 10.5 points per outing during the regular season. One of the all-time greats to ever suit up for Hofstra and to play in the CAA, Gustys heads into the postseason with career totals of 1,295 rebounds and 1,172 points. He is just 19 rebounds shy of the all-time CAA record of 1,314 held by Hall of Famer David Robinson, who played for Navy from 1983-87. His career scoring total currently ranks 25th all-time in program history and he is already the program's all-time leader in rebounds at the NCAA Division I level.

Gustys, who ranks third nationally in rebounds and second in the CAA, has tallied 13 double-double so far this season, including an impressive 22-point/21-rebound effort in a win over William & Mary that marked the third 20/20 game of his spectacular career. Gustys has three 20-rebound games this season and 11 in his career, and currently has 47 double-doubles to his name since the start of his Pride career. Gustys, who leads Hofstra in rebounding and ranks third in scoring, ranks first in the CAA in field goal percentage at 63.3%.

The third of the Pride's honorees, Ray averaged 6.6 points per game this season as he played in all 30 games and started three in his freshman campaign. Ray, who shot nearly 40% from beyond the arc and drained 45 three-pointers this year, improved once the season turned to CAA play as he averaged 7.6 points per outing in the Pride's 18 conference games. Ray, one of the top sixth men in the conference, came off the bench to average 23.2 minutes per game and was a huge spark for the Pride throughout the season. He scored in double figures 10 times, including in three of the final four games of the regular season. In addition, Ray had a knack for the dramatics as he hit game-winning shots against Monmouth on December 6 and Towson on January 11. He ranked in the top 10 in three-point field goal percentage in conference games.

Hofstra will open play at the CAA Championship with a quarterfinal match-up versus UNCW on Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. That contest will air on CAA.tv. The audio only broadcast can be heard on the Pride Productions portal as well as locally in the Hempstead area on WRHU (88.7 FM).
