Josh Byrne has been added as a team co-captain for the 2017 Pride Men's Lacrosse Team, Hofstra Head Coach

Byrne, a native of New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, is entering his second season as an attackman for the Pride after transferring from nearby Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York in 2015.
Byrne, who is a 2017 Preseason Honorable Mention All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, was named to the 2016 All-CAA first team after starting all 15 games and posting team-highs of 30 goals, 15 assists and 45 points. He ranked second in the CAA in points and third in goals and assists last season.
Byrne also recorded a point in 13 of 15 games and at least one goal in 11 of 15 contests. He tallied five goals versus Princeton and four at North Carolina and St. John's and had four assists versus Delaware and NJIT. Byrne also scooped up 26 ground balls including a season-high five against NJIT and four against North Carolina and Princeton.
Byrne was selected the NJCAA Attackman of the Year and named to the NJCAA All-America team in 2015 after recording 76 goals and 30 assists at Nassau Community College.
Hofstra will begin its 2017 regular season on Saturday, February 18 against Monmouth University at James M. Shuart Stadium. Game time is 1 p.m.
