MBB: Hofstra To Hold HEADstrong Awareness Game Next Wednesday

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra University Men's Basketball program is thrilled to announce that the school will host an important HEADstrong Awareness Game on Wednesday, December 20. The Pride will be taking on Manhattan that evening.

The game between the Pride and the Jaspers will take place at the Center for Recreation and Sports on the campus of Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. Tip time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

There are still limited tickets available for the game. They can be purchased at HofstraTickets.com, by calling (516) HOF-TIXX or visiting the Hofstra Athletics Ticket Office in the lobby of the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

"We are honored and thrilled to help raise awareness for the incredible work that the HEADstrong Foundation does," commented Hofstra Head Men's Basketball Coach Joe Mihalich. "Hofstra University is so deeply connected to this amazing foundation and to Nick Colleluori and we will always do whatever we can to assist."

As part of the HEADstrong Awareness event, Hofstra will be wearing the foundation's lime green shoelaces and Head Coach Joe Mihalich will be wearing a lime green tie as well. Nicholas Colleluori, the founder of HEADstrong and a former Hofstra Men's Lacrosse student-athlete, chose lime green to represent the HEADstrong Foundation because it's the awareness color for non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. There will also be a basketball autographed by the entire Hofstra Men's Basketball team that will be raffled off.

In addition, Hofstra alumnus and former member of WRHU Sports Christian Heimall will be in attendance. Christian is cancer survivor and has worked tirelessly with the HEADstrong Foundation and their mission of improving the quality of life for those affected by cancer.

Nick Colleluori was a member of the Pride lacrosse team from 2004 to 2006 and graduated from Ridley High School (PA) in 2004. Nick may have lost his battle with blood cancer on November 28, 2006, but his vision has just begun.

The HEADstrong Foundation is dedicated to Nick's life. He drew the logo as he was waiting to go into the operating room for a procedure. Because lacrosse was his passion and he can no longer carry the ball, his family and friends will carry the ball for him. Please join the HEADstrong Foundation's effort to bring Nick's vision to reality to promote cancer awareness, support research and help eliminate this disease.
