Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Men's Basketball Coach
Joe Mihalich announced today that Tyquone Greer has signed a National Letter of Intent with the University.
Greer is a 6-6 guard/forward. The Chicago, Illinois native will have two years of eligibility remaining after joining the Pride for the 2016-17 academic year from Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Florida.
"Tyquone is a dynamic basketball player who will be a quality addition to our program," commented Mihalich. "Tyquone is a versatile player who will be able to help us in a variety of ways. He has a great knack for being able to score from anywhere on the floor and he is also a skilled defender. We look forward to Tyquone suiting up for the Pride very soon."
During the 2015-16 season with the Falcons he averaged 12.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and shot nearly 40% from beyond the arc. He helped Daytona State to a 25-win season this year. In 2014-15 he averaged eight points and 5.1 rebounds for the 21-win Falcons. As a freshman he earned second team All-Mid-Florida Conference accolades and followed that up with first team all-conference and FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII All-State honors this season.
During his senior year at Orr Academy in Chicago, Greer was a second team all-state pick by the
News-Gazette and a third team all-city selection by the
Chicago Sun-Times and averaged 16.9 points and 8.6 rebounds. He ranked first on the team in scoring and second in rebounding.
