Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will look to return to its winning ways on Thursday when the Pride head south to face William & Mary at 7 p.m. from Kaplan Arena.
There will be Pride Productions live video of the game (via William & Mary) with links available on this page or via the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The Pride Productions audio only broadcast can also be heard via the portal and the WRHU mobile app. Mark Weiner and Anthony Santaniello will be on the call for the audio only broadcast.
Hofstra (16-8, 8-4 CAA) will look to end a short two-game losing skid against the Tribe after dropping games to UNCW and James Madison last week. Both defeats were narrow losses with the loss to the Seahawks being a three-point regulation loss and the setback against the Dukes being a three-point overtime loss.
It will mark the second game this season against William & Mary as Hofstra captured a 91-63 win over the Tribe back on January 24 in Hempstead. Senior guard
Juan'ya Green led all players with 30 points, while sophomore center
Rokas Gustys tallied 18 points and 11 rebounds in the contest. Hofstra held a one-point lead at the break before outscoring the Tribe, 53-26, after intermission to pull away for the win.
Green has distanced himself for the Hofstra scoring lead with some strong games as of late and he now is averaging 17.9 points per game this season. He also leads the Pride with 163 assists and 43 steals.
William & Mary will bring a 17-6 overall record and a Colonial Athletic Association mark of 9-3 into Thursday's game. The Tribe has won four straight, including a 90-64 win over Delaware this past Saturday. Omar Prewitt leads William & Mary with 17.3 points, while Terry Tarpey is averaging 10.7 points and team-best 7.9 rebounds per outing.
In a series that began when Hofstra joined the Colonial Athletic Association beginning with the 2001-02 campaign, the Pride hold a 15-11 lead over the Tribe in the series. William & Mary won all three games a season ago, including the epic double-overtime game in the CAA semifinals. The Tribe had won four straight in the series before the January 24 encounter but before that Hofstra had won five of the previous seven meetings.
