Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University Head Men's Basketball Coach Joe Mihalich announced today the addition of Denton Koon (Liberty, MO).

Koon, a transfer from Princeton University, is eligible immediately to play for the Pride in the 2015-16 season and will have one season of eligibility remaining. He is a 6-8 forward.

"Denton is a great addition to our program," commented Mihalich. "He will add some much-needed depth to our forward position and his versatility will help make us a better basketball team. We are thrilled to welcome Denton to the Hofstra family. He will be an impact student-athlete for us on the court, in the classroom and in the community. Go Pride!"

Koon graduated from Princeton with a degree in economics and was a four-year member of the Tiger men's basketball program.

During his career with the Tigers he appeared in 78 games with 27 starts. He averaged 7.6 points per game during his Princeton career, with a career high of 10.5 points per game during his sophomore season in 2012-13. He has scored in double figures 26 times during his career.

In addition, Koon averaged 3.2 rebounds per game as a Tiger and also added 79 assists, 37 steals and 20 blocks. Koon missed the 2014-15 campaign with an injury but prior to that averaged 7.7 points per contest as a junior. The 2012-13 season was his best statistically as in addition to the 10.5 points he also had 3.0 rebounds per outing, 39 assists, 16 steals and 10 blocked shots. Following that season he was named honorable mention All-Ivy League.

Koon scored a career-high 23 points at Columbia on February 22, 2013 and grabbed a career-best 11 rebounds vs. Florida A&M on November 10, 2013.

A native of Liberty, Missouri, Koon attended Liberty High School and was the Blue Springs Journal's Suburban Big 6 All-Conference Player of the Year in 2011.
