MBB: Hofstra Off To The Capital City For Match-Up With Siena

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will put its three-game win streak on the line on Wednesday when it travels to the Capital City to face Siena at 7 p.m. from the Times Union Center.

There will be live video of the game (via SienaSaints.com) and Pride Productions live audio, along with live stats. Links to all three can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The game will also air on WRHU (88.7 FM).

The current three-game win streak is the Pride's second streak of that length this season after opening the 2015-16 campaign with three consecutive victories.

The most recent triumph came on Sunday as Hofstra captured an 86-80 win over Appalachian State at Madison Square Garden as Staten Island native Brian Bernardi tallied a team-high 23 points. The junior guard was assisted by sophomore center Rokas Gustys who notched a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds and senior guard Juan'ya Green added 17 points and six assists.

Bernardi had a solid week last week, averaging 22.5 points in leading the Pride to wins over La Salle and the Mountaineers. The win over the Explorers was Hofstra's second road win over an Atlantic 10 member this season and he currently ranks third on the team in scoring at 15.6 points per outing.

Hofstra nearly has five players averaging double figures in points as Green (18.3), senior forward Ameen Tanksley (16.0) and graduate forward Denton Koon (11.5) all are in double digits with Gustys fifth at 9.9 points per outing. Gustys leads team with 9.1 rebounds per game with Green posting 7.4 assists per game.

Siena is 5-4 this season and is coming off a split of its opening conference weekend as they defeated Manhattan before dropping a road contest at Saint Peter's on Sunday. Five players average in double figures led by Marquis Wright's 17.9 points per game. Brett Bisping is third in scoring at 12.3 points and leads the team with 8.6 rebounds. Wright has a team-best 34 assists.

Hofstra is 4-1 all-time against Siena with the last meeting between the teams occurring during the 2013-14 season when the Saints captured a 67-59 victory in Albany. The first-ever meeting between the teams was during the 1976-77 season as Hofstra won 96-88 in the regular season finale that season. The Pride's most recent win in the series was in 2011-12 when Hofstra won 81-69 in an ESPN BracketBuster game at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

Following the game at Siena, Hofstra will take a break for finals and return to action on Sunday, December 20 when it heads east to face Long Island rival Stony Brook at 2 p.m.
