Hempstead, NY - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced yesterday that former Hofstra Football player Kyle Arrington was promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.  Arrington, who was in the Buccaneers training camp this year, was signed to the practice squad on September 6.

Arrington, who spent the majority of the 2008 season on the Buccaneers' practice squad, was also previously a member of the Philadelphia Eagles organization.

Arrington is one of four former Hofstra Football players currently on active NFL rosters.  He joins Stephen Bowen (Dallas Cowboys), Willie Colon (Pittsburgh Steelers) and Marques Colston (New Orleans Saints).  Kareem Huggins is currently on the Buccaneers practice squad.

Arrington, a native of Accokeek, Maryland and a graduate of Gwynn Park High School, was a four-year letterman and a three-year starter in the Hofstra secondary. He played in 39 games for the Pride and recorded 84 solo tackles, 62 assisted stops and two interceptions during his college career.

As a senior in 2007, Arrington recorded 53 tackles, including 30 solo stops, to rank second among defensive backs for the 7-4 Pride. He tallied a season-high seven tackles in contests against Furman and Villanova.  He was also in on 5.5 tackles for losses of 17 yards, broke up three passes, forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and picked off one pass, against Massachusetts, on the season.

In 2006 Arrington posted his best numbers with 69 tackles, including 38 unassisted tackles, and tallied a career-best nine tackles in games against Delaware, Massachusetts and Towson. He also picked off a pass at Maine. He started all 11 games as a junior. Arrington played in 10 games and started seven as a sophomore in 2005 and notched 14 solo tackles and seven assisted stops. He also played in seven games as a freshman in 2004.
